Curriculum Vitae of H.E.Mr Jon Ramberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway in the Republic of Azerbaijan

Mr. Jon Ramberg joined the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Norwegian Agency for International Development (NORAD) in 1976, with a background in journalism and a cand. mag. from the University of Oslo in history, social anthropology and political science.

He was first posted to Cape Town as a Vice Consul (1978-81) and to The Hague as Secretary of Embassy (1981-84). He was Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad 1987-89 and Minister Counsellor in charge of the political department at the Embassy in Bonn 1993-97.

At home, Mr. Ramberg has i.a. been heading the Press division of the Ministry (1990-93) and the Section of Marine, Energy and Polar Affairs (1998-2004). He was Exececutive Secretary of the 22nd Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in Tromsø, 1998, and attended Senior Course No. 105 at the NATO Defense College in Rome 2004-05. Returning from Rome in february, 2005,  he was assigned to work on the regional cooperation in the Barents area.  Last year, he was the Senior Safety Delegate for the Norwegian foreign service, appointed by the unions.

Mr. Ramberg was born on 30 June 1946. He is married to Elinor Ramberg, and they have three children.
