The Government welcomes the award of this year’s prize to these three women. The international conference "Thor Heyerdahl and Azerbaijan" took place in Baku October 26-29. The conference was organized by Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and the University of Oslo, and brought together scholars and experts. Thor Heyerdahl jr. and Jaqueline Beer Heyerdahl were the guests of honour at the conference.

On September 20th, the Ambassador of Norway to Azerbaijan and Georgia, Mr. Erling Skjønsberg, held the opening address at the conference “Community and Historic Environment” in Tbilisi. The conference marked the conclusion of a cooperation project between the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren) and ICOMOS Georgia.
