Families living close to the socalled "contact line" separating Azerbaijani and Armenian forces are worrying about letting their children out in possibly mine-infested areas. That is the reason behind establishing Safe Play Areas, which have been certified free of mines and which offer an atractive alternative for the chldren to wandering about in more dangerous territory. The Norwegian Red Cross, among others, have fianced several of these over the years. On Sunday 18 October, ambassador Jon Ramberg, inaugurated one Safe Play Area in the village of  Kohna Gishlag in Agstafa region. The pictures show him cutting the ribbon with  Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society Mr. Baylar Talibov, and testing out the some of the equipment, all localy produced. The playfield was financed with a grant of the Norwegian Government from the Embassy's Small Grant Fund and established by the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society. The International Committe of the Red Cross (ICRC) and representantives of the local authorities were also present at the ceremony.
