New class of students at the Scandinavian Regional Studies Programme

05/10/2009 // Three years ago, the first Azerbaijani students entered the recently established Bachelor programme in Scandinavian Regional Studies at the Azerbaijani University of Languages. On Tuesday 15. September this year a new group of students started their studies on the programme.

The Scandinavian Regional Studies Programme has now students studying on all levels, ranging from the first to the fourth year of the Bachelor Programme. The Embassy is an active supporter of the programme, which aims at increasing the knowledge about Norwegian and Scandinavian society and culture in Azerbaijan.

The Bachelor Programme is a joint project between the University of Oslo, the University of Agder and the Azerbaijani University of Languages. The students study everything from Norwegian law, economy and politics to Scandinavian literature and history. In addition to the courses in regional studies, all the students in the
programme study Norwegian language. And this year, the second year students had the opportunity to go to summer school in Norway for 6 weeks and take an additional course at the University of Oslo. In each class there are 8-10 students. With the new class there will be almost 40 Azerbaijani students enrolled in the Programme.
