Knut Hamsun’s grandson Leif Hamsun revealed Hamsun’s bas-relief at the Nobel museum in Batumi Thursday 19. November.
In 2009 it is 150 years since the famous Norwegian writer and poet Knut Hamsun was born, and 110 years since his travels in Caucasus. The double anniversary was celebrated over four days in Tbilisi and Batumi. Knut Hamsun’s grandson Leif Hamsun revealed the beautifully crafted bas-relief of Hamsun at the Nobel museum in Batumi. Norwegian and Georgian scholars and representatives from two Norwegian Hamsun societies were present, together with the Minister of Culture for the Autonomous Republic of Ajaria and representatives of the Norwegian Embassy in Baku.
