The picture shows the carpet in the Ambassador's office. Photo: Royal Norwegian Embassy in Baku Ambassador Jon Ramberg and Assistant Elmira Mirzayeva visited the weaving mill of Fatima Aqamirzayeva in Guba on Sunday 25 April. The mill is producing according to traditional patterns found through painstaking research and uses natural dyes only. It gives employment in an area which sorely needs it, in particular to women. It has therefore been supported by the Small Grants Fund of the Embassy. This support was more than reciprocated with the donation of a magnificent carpet based on rock carving patterns of Gobustan – a site of great interest also to Norwegian archeologists and to Thor Heyerdahl. The picture shows the ambassador and Fatima xanim with the carpet, which has now been laid out in his office and will remain a piece of pride there in the years to come.
