Royal Norwegian Embassy awards $123,000 to support civil society initiative in Azerbaijan

01/09/2009 // The Embassy is pleased to announce the award of $123,000 in grants to support the initiatives of seven local organizations in Azerbaijan.

On behalf of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Eurasia Partnership Foundation is pleased to announce the award of $123,000 in grants to support the initiatives of seven local organizations in Azerbaijan. Funding for this awards initiative has been provided by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Azerbaijan and will be administered by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation. The goal of the program is to support the development of civil society and democratic institutions in the country. After careful review of nearly 150 received proposals, the following organizations and projects have been selected by the Norwegian Embassy for support:

 

 

Organization:            National Budget Group

Project Title:             Advocacy for increasing public participation in public investment budget

Award Amount:        $20,000

 

 

Organization:           Adult Education Association

Project Title:            To empower women candidates and voters to join elections

Award Amount:        $18,500

 

Organization:            Azerbaijan Committee Against Tortures

Project Title:             Monitoring of the municipal elections and consequence support  to victims of human rights violation

Award Amount:        $12,000

 

Organization:           National NGO Forum Shemkir Regional - NGO Resource and Training Center

Project Title:            Azerbaijan Boys Leadership Experience Camp 2009 (ABLE)

Amount:                    $ 16, 500

 

Organization:            Network Against Human Trafficking in Azerbaijan

Project Title:             Together against human trafficking in Azerbaijan

Award Amount:        $19, 000      

 

 

Organization:            Democratic Development and Economic Cooperation

Project Title:             Raising Public Awareness on EITI Process and Activities

Award Amount:        $18,500

 

Organization:            Democracy and NGOs Development Resource Center (Nakhchivan)

Project Title:             Combating corruption at the universities in Nakhchivan using anti-corruption mechanisms

Award Amount:        $18,500
