Name of the Organisation: “Labyrinth” Creative Social Union
Name of the Project: Bridge” Contemporary Art Exhibitions
Grant amount: USD 10,600
The project aims to strengthen cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Norway. Within the framework of the project, the Azerbaijani and Norwegian artists will get acquainted with traditions, ideas, and key images of each other. The meetings of Azerbaijani and Norwegian artists will contribute to the mutual spiritual enrichment of the artists from both countries. This project is a part of International project “Maiden Tower: To be a woman”. In the first stage a group of five women artists from Norway are supposed to come to Azerbaijan to participate in the Azerbaijani and Norwegian female artists’ exhibition. In the second stage Azerbaijani female artists will go to Norway.

Name of the Project: Conference on World Financial crisis: new challenges for oil countries

The conference, which was organised in April, brought together Azerbaijani, Norwegian and international experts for a discussion on the challenges for the oil prouding countries of the world financial crisis.

Name of the Project: Model of Democratic Elections
Grant amount: USD 2,500
The project is co-sponsored by the US Embassy. To hold 7 days highly interactive seminar for 30 local youth, between 18-25 is the main objective of the project. The seminars aim to encourage mutual understanding of democratic elections model buy organising mock municipality election. The main tool for making the project interactive is a daily-updated website, online voting procedure and live web channel and radio.

Name of the Project: The role of Azeri Folk art carpet making on the life of young and unemployed women from outlying districts of Azerbaijan
Grant amount: USD 7,000
The project, which is being carried out in three outlying villages in the Guba and Gusar districts, . aims to assist unemployed girls and women in learning carpet weaving. Within the framework of the project, training sessions will be organised on the topic “start and improve your own business”. An exhibition of the works of the young girls will be held.

Name of the Project: To stage “Victoria” play by K.Hamsun

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to stage the play “Victoria” by Knut Hamsun at the Youth Theatre with the participation of the Azerbaijani actors.

Name of the Project: Youth Mock municipality
Grant amount: USD 4,000
The organisation will call 3 municipality leaders from Mirili, Garalar and Garaguvendikli villages from Imishli region to set up the schedule for the first 3 trainings in each location. The trainings aim to increase awareness about the activity of the municipalities, to involve the youth in the municipality work and to encourage them to participate in the future programs of the municipalities.

The aim of the project is to conduct courses on internet technologies and web design for 40 participants to be grouped into 6 groups to help them to create web pages.

Name of the Project: Attraction of women to the solution of the local problems in the regions
Grant amount: USD 16,000
The project consists of seminars for active women in the regions on the nature of local problems and ways of solution of these. There will be an emphasis on joint activities between the women and local authorities, municipalities and other bodies.

Name of the Project: 13th International Art symposium in Sheki
Grant amount: AZN 10,500
The project is co-sponsored by ART- Group. The symposium is planned to be held in September-October 2009. There will be ten participants including eight artists, one art-critic and one photographer. The participants will stay 15 days in Sheki and return to Baku to exhibit their works in one of the galleries in Baku.

Name of the organisation: Danish Refugee Council
Name of the Project: Multi-sectored humanitarian assistance to Chechen refugees in Azerbaijan
Grant amount: USD 30,000
The principal objective of the project is to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable refugees in Azerbaijan. A specific objective of the project is to ensure sustainable livehihood and human rights protection of Chechen refugees. In particular, support will be given to the Chechen Educational centre for the disabled.
The Embassy has also supported travel expenses for two students going two students going to Business Administration University Summer Schools, 2 students to International Student Festival in Trondheim.
