A parent visa means that a mother or father has a right to apply for 9-months visa to be able to stay with her/his child/children having a residence permit for Norway.
The Norwegian Embassy in Baku is authorised to accept applications for a parent visa/stay permit the citizens of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
List of the documents required/recommended to apply for a parent visa/stay permit
Please be informed that all documents should be delivered personally by an applicant. The following documents are required/recommended to apply for a parent visa/stay permit:
- 2 copies of a filled in application form for a first time residence or/and work permit.
- 3 passport-size photos. For detailed information on the required photos please click here.
- 2 copies of a passport page containing personal information (together with the passport).
- 2 copies of the National Identity Card (Azərbaycan Respublikası vətəndaşinın şəxsiyyət vəsiqəsi) (both sides).
- 2 copies (1 original and 1 copy) of an invitation letter from a child living in Norway.
- 2 copies (1 original and 1 copy) of a Guarantee Form for Residence which should be filled in by a reference in Norway and confirmed by a local authority in Norway (Police Office, etc.).
- 2 copies (1 original and 1 copy) of financial documents on a reference’s income. it's recommended to submit also 2 copies of the documents on housing.
- 3 copies (1 original and 2 copies) of an applicant’s birth certificate translated into English and verified by Apostille.
- 2 copies (1 original and 1 copy) of a reference’s birth certificate translated into English and verified by Apostille.
- Application fee – 455 AZN (from the 1st of June 2007) – is paid beforehand together with an application's submission for its processing. Please note that in case if an application is rejected no payment is reimbursed.
NB! Please note that the decision on approving/rejecting an application for a parent visa/permit is taken only by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and case’s processing can take up to 10 months. In case if an applicant is granted a residence permit a relevant D visa will be issued, and after an applicant’s arrival in Norway he/she must report to the police of his/her stay no later than 7 days after entry. If an application is rejected an applicant will be notified on the decision.
